FINALLY!! You can now travel to Taiwan without a visa! (Updated)

The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines finally announces the visa-free entry for Filipinos! Yay!

Visa-free entry to Taiwan will be on a 9-month trial period which will start on November 1 to July 31 2018. Filipinos staying for up to 14 days as a tourist, or might be for business purposes, attending events or simply visiting a relative is free.

For those who would like to stay for more than 14 days would still need to obtain a visa to enter Taiwan.

This initiative from Taiwan is a part of their goodwill and efforts to the “New Southbound Policy” and hopes for a stronger diplomatic ties between Philippines and Taiwan. They are also hoping for a more number tourists after the implementation.

REQUIREMENTS FOR A VALID VISA-FREE ENTRY TO TAIWAN:

  1. Passport, at least 6 months remaining validity
  2. Proof of accommodation, it could be either your hotel booking, your host or sponsor’s contact details, or travel arrangements
  3. Onward and Return ticket to Taiwan or the passenger’s ticket and visa to the next destination, if required. You must prove that you don’t have any intentions to stay and will go back to Manila after your desired days. If you’re still a student, you can bring a proof that you’re enrolled.
  4. No criminal record in Taiwan

*It would be wise to of course provide your financial capability to prove that you have enough money during your stay. If you can, bring your employment certificate, company ID, or just simply bring cash with you, I think it will be enough.
